I made a third trip recently and was surprised the remaining structures were still there. I fully expected a brand new housing complex built on the property by now. I was happy to see the remnants still there. I snapped a few pics to update the file.

I've now made two trips here. This time though, a large chunk of the woods have been replaced by an apartment community. Also, there has been some clearing near the hospital making me think they're going to tear it down soon. I am glad I got here when I did. Either way I don't think it will standing much longer. In one of the pics below you can see the brick is separating from the structure. I was on the third floor at that time. I didn't hang around for very long!

The Charity Hospital has become a poignant symbol of both the town's history and the transience of human endeavor. It's reputed to be one of Mississippi's most spine-chilling abandoned sites, with local folklore whispering tales of spectral nurses and patients still wandering its halls. These stories add layers of mystique and melancholy to the site, drawing urban explorers, photographers, and paranormal enthusiasts alike.

 

For those daring enough to venture into its ruins, the hospital offers a stark reminder of the fragility of institutions we often take for granted. Yet, it also serves as a historical marker, encapsulating the stories of countless lives touched by its presence over nearly a century.
