Alexander

Alexander Church in Darling, Mississippi, Quitman County, is a late 19th-century African American church off Highway 315. Its adjacent cemetery holds 90 burials from the early 1900s to recent decades. The church, now abandoned with fallen doors, stands near the Yazoo and Mississippi Valley Railroad tracks, which historically connected Darling (milepost 60.4 from Memphis) to the Delta’s economy. The structure is a decaying relic, untouched by vandalism, reflecting the town’s decline from a railroad hub to a population of 154.
