Coca~Cola Plant Jackson, Mississippi

The End of an Era: Coca-Cola Plant on Highway 80 Demolished

It’s with a mix of nostalgia and disappointment that I share the news: the old Coca-Cola bottling plant on Highway 80 in Jackson, Mississippi, is being torn down. Built in 1949, this iconic structure was a symbol of mid-20th-century industrial optimism, but it fell into decline after operations moved in 2007. I had the chance to explore its abandoned halls a few years ago, capturing its faded glory and hoping for one last walk-through to relive those memories. Sadly, that won’t happen.

The demolition, which began in early May 2025, aims to clear the way for new economic development in the area, though it was recently paused due to asbestos concerns. While the city envisions revitalization for Highway 80, the loss of this historic site stings for those of us who saw its haunting beauty up close.

Check out this local broadcast WLBT for footage of the demolition and more details on the city’s plans. Rest in peace, old Coke plant—your stories will live on through those who wandered your forgotten corridors.

Nestled within the heart of Jackson, Mississippi, lies the enigmatic remains of the abandoned Coca Cola plant. Once a bustling hub of effervescent creativity and industry, this weathered edifice now stands as a silent witness to a bygone era. Its weathered walls and rusted machinery evoke a sense of nostalgia, as echoes of fizzing bottles and laughter reverberate in the empty halls. Delve into the mystique of this forgotten landmark, where history and intrigue intertwine, inviting you to unravel its untold stories and capture the essence of a bygone era.
