Lamar Elementary

Lamar Elementary School, which opened in 1908 as a humble two-room building known as Kingston School, has a rich history and legacy. However, the current state of the building is one of abandonment and decay, with its once-sturdy structure now crumbling and falling apart. The two-story building with an attic, built in 1913, has suffered from years of neglect and lack of maintenance, and the elements have taken a heavy toll on its exterior and interior alike. Despite the city's plans to repurpose the building into apartments, extensive renovations and repairs would be required to bring it up to code and make it livable once again. It's a sad state of affairs for a building that was once such an integral part of the community, and many former students and residents hope that something can be done to preserve its historic significance before it's too late.
