The Plaza

Plaza Tower is a 45-story, 531-foot Modernist skyscraper located at 1001 Howard Avenue in New Orleans' Central Business District. Designed by Leonard R. Spangenberg, Jr. & Associates and completed in 1969, it was briefly the tallest building in Louisiana.

It faced financial troubles during construction and has been largely vacant since the early 2000s due to asbestos, mold, and damage from Hurricane Katrina. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

In June 2025, the long-abandoned tower was sold for a planned $250 million redevelopment into a 300-unit assisted living facility for senior housing with ground-floor retail. Read the full article on Grokipedia
