The Landing
The Landing was a casual roadside restaurant in Texas. It served locals and travelers for years before closing permanently and sitting empty. On a recent explore, the door was open—so in I went. First stop: the lunch counter with swivel stools still in great condition and a big Italian chef statue on top. To the right, the full dining room had an old big-screen TV in the corner and two glass walls overlooking the lawn and cypress trees. Back through the counter was the lounge: a wooden bar stocked with glasses and supplies, booths and chairs neatly stacked on the black-and-white checkered floor.
I photographed it all, then stepped outside for one last shot of the building and sign. It’s been closed a long time—would’ve loved to eat there when it was open and buzzing. A perfect little time capsule off the highway.
